Cardiac Rehabilitation
The recovering cardiac patient may find it difficult to return to his or her old job responsibilities after treatment for cardiovascular (heart) disease. Or, the old job may not be waiting because the employer lacks an understanding of heart disease and the abilities an employee may regain after treatment and rehabilitation.
SCVRD, in cooperation with certified cardiac rehabilitation programs, provides specialized vocational rehabilitation services throughout the state.
VR staff can help cardiac patients maintain jobs, identify alternative job opportunities, recognize stress factors on the job, make dietary and life-style changes, and modify behaviors on the job, in recreation and in social situations.
